Beach Card using From Land and Sea #PP258

Who doesn't love the beach right? I enjoy the warm sand and building silly sand castles with the kids. I created my card with the feeling I get after a day at the beach with my family, hence the sentiment from Remember This - 'a day to remember'. Usually its sunset by the time we are leaving, we've had more than a few laughs and generally a really fun time altogether.

Todays card theme was inspired by the lovely designers over at The Paper Players 258. with this inspirational beach themed picture.

Here is my card. Those that visit my blog often know that I love adding dimension and layers, When I think of 'beach' I think of the layers from the horizon to the water to wet sand, and my favourite the warm dry sand. To make the layers look realistic I tore them 'strategically' as my upline Kyllie would say.  Originally I had torn all the layers - but it looked really messy and my hubbie thought it looked a bit like a Tsunami. Definately not the look I was going for. So I changed the top 2 panels and made them a little calmer with some straight lines.
The latern is from a new stamp set  'From Land and Sea' and I've been looking for a reason to use this Latern image. Its really cute don't you think?  Google has some great inspirational photos -try a search on 'Latern Ocean' to sea (haha jokes!) what comes up.
Here are the card measurements so you too can create this card:
  • Standard Australian C6 card base in Whisper White Thick Cardstock (half A4 sheet)
  • Calypso Coral Panel -  1-1/2" x 5-1/4"
  • Island Indigo Panel - 1-1/4" x 5-1/4"
  • All other layers - 5-1/4" wid, torn into shape
Here are the main colours of this card - I'd love to see what you create with these colours.
