Paper Piecing with Retired See a Silhouette DSP

Do you have too much retired paper like me? Well it doesn't mean you can't still use them right? I often find that I just didn't get a chance to use it while it was still a current product but I still want to use and show you what I created with it. 

Creating these cards was quite therapeutic. Fussy cutting is one of my favourite things in crafting, don't get me wrong I do love it when images have a matching die, but there is something calming about cutting out images too. 

These are great cards to have on hand for any type of occasion. 

I layered all my cut pieces over a whisper white panel, for this particular card below I added embossed and stamped some big watermark patches. 

I love those flowers and the watercoloured look of them.

Crafting Forever with the Bridge Fun Fold

Happy June 1st! Today I have a new fun fold to share. I’ve always wanted to try this card type so let’s get started. Firstly thanks to Kelly Acheson for sharing such a great video on how to assemble this card.  I’ve used the Crafting Forever stamp set, which is retiring from the annual catalogue in a few days. I have really enjoyed using this set many many times over, I’m a little sad it’s leaving us so let’s show it off one last time, 

Once you’ve got all the pieces ready, you’ll want to score your cardbase as pictured below. 

Score at 1-1/4”, 2-1/2”, 5-3/4” & 7”.Valley & mountain fold each side

 Next stick all the DSP panels to the front of the card. 

After stamping some images for the writing panel, adhere it to the Calypso Coral frame and attach to the reverse side of the card

Next adhere the strips of Coastal Cabana cardstock & DSP together.

Fold the left side of the card up & leave the right side open 

Adhere the “bridge” to the left side, then to the far right panel only

Stamp out your images & sentiment, arrange them to the bridge & your card is complete!

When folded flat you’ll notice your card is bigger than the usual C6 size however will fit into a 6”x6” square envelope.

Masking & Repeat Stamping

I’ve been watching some fab technique videos on You Tube and I came by a great one by Jennifer Maguire showing this technique. Although the below images are from a retired stamp set you could use just about any stamp set to recreate this look. 

The first step is to stamp the Pelican image in black ink on the white panel. 

Next & I should have kept and taken a photo of the post it note mask I made! Stamp the pelican on a post it note

and carefully cut it out, place this over the image on the white cardstock. 

Stamp the sentiment many times down the card front in Pear Pizzaz except for one stand out which is in Black.

Remove the mask and your image is revealed!

I kept the inside super simple by sta,ping the pelican a few more times here too

Best Route - Happy 10th Birthday

While I wait for my new catalogue goodies to arrive, I thought I better use the (now) retired DSP stock to make some quick card fronts. Here’s the first card I’ve completed, I imagine the rest will be somewhat similar!

I love find new way to use my punches. Here I’ve created a sentiment label by using a 2cm (3/4”) strip of whisper white cardstock. I have so many strips left over all the time, this is a great way to use them up. 

The ‘Happy Birthday’ from Perennial Birthday (145760) fits this label perfectly.

Inside greeting from retired set ‘Birthday Wishes For You’

A touch of gold makes this card SHINE!

If you’re ever stuck for a colour combination just use the DSP as your inspiration
