From cake slice to wood planks for Lets Craft Together Blog Hop

Welcome back to another Let's Craft Together Blog Hop! This months theme is a Photo Inspiration Challenge. Thanks Michele for a great hop theme.

I have created a 'wood panel' inspired card using a CAKE stamp! Let me explain how I did it, but first lets check out the inspiration pic below for what lead me to this crazy idea.
Here's the challenge picture as set out by Michele. I'm loving ALL the colours and the vertical wood planks in browns in grey tones.

Now lets take a closer look at my card. I knew I wanted wood panels and little or no flowers but how to achieve lookalike wood without an obvious stamp or designer paper? The answer came in the form of a cake slice .. from Cake Fancy. Stamped in all the colours - Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Old Olive, Pecan Pie and Gray Granite - I love it!

Finished with the postcard stamp and sentiment from Stamped With Love and a pretty bow in the new ribbon and colour Basic Beige!
For the inside some simple stamping with the new Online Exclusive  - Elements of Text (my new favourite background images) the teeny leaf image is from Cake Fancy
I love using stamps in a new and different way - I think its my special skill! Its fun.
What other images can you see in these sets?
Be sure to continue on the hop below!

Thanks so much for stopping by and hopefully I have inspired your creativity. I love reading your comments, be sure to leave me a quick hello below!

Cake Fancy in Pretty Peacock

Today I've created a pretty. birthday card thats full of texture and sweetness. It can sometimes to be hard to 'soften' colours within the Regal Colour family, but I think I've done ok here with Pretty Peacock and this delicious slice of cake!

Lets take a closer look...
I began with a textured background, tone on tone to the card base. I embossed with my favourite 3D embossing folder Distressed Tile. I die cut x2 tags from Something Fancy Dies and added them top n tale in Basic White, stamping a little detail and the greeting too. I hide the join behind some DSP and continue the DSP to the card edge. Lastly I stamped the cake layers in soft subtle colours and raised it on foam dimensionals.
The inside has a thin strip of DSP and some of the small images in this stamp set scattered across the bottom corner.
This is a great stamp set, versatile to bling up or down! Add one cake layer or many its up to you.
Thanks so much for stopping by and hopefully I have inspired your creativity. I love reading your comments, be sure to leave me a quick hello below!
