In This World - My Onstage Swaps Melbourne November 2017

Today I'm sharing my Onstage swaps with you! I always try to use a stamp set that I personally think is a bit 'hard to use'. By this I mean as much as we love a set we just might not know where to start with it. Which us why swapping is so great. I had lots of friends at Onstage say how great it was to see this set because "I have it, but have never used it". My favourite part is the black stamping off the left & bottom edges - the crisp imagery pops off the page. And if course I LOVE the chair too!

I have used 'In This World' for the main images - the chair, I coloured with Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends. Makes me go Oooohh!  For the background I stamped tone on tone using 'Post Script' background stamp. The sentiment is made up of Balloon Celebrations (I cut off the words 'and drink' from 'come let us sit together') and die cut LOVELY & FRIEND from 'Lovely Words Thinlits' set.The Bermuda Bay motif image peeking out from behind the chair is from 'Timeless Textures'.

I'm getting back into the swing of things by crafting along with challenges! Today I have joined in with a new challenge headed up by the awesome Sarah Berry over in the UK. Here is what I have created with In This World, one of my new favourite sets from the Annual Catalogue.

These elegant & regal looking chairs look so great in any colour - so I chose a Regal palette to suit.
I embossed some vellum cardstock and it looks and feels awesome. Its hard to tell from the photo but the vellum is floating in between the 2 pieces of Island Indigo.  Here's the idea from Julie Davidson.

To finish this beauty off, I just added a simple sentiment, some cute new stitched ribbon secured with a glue dot and finished with a gorgeous metal rimmed pearl (as I'm terrible at tying bows on cards!)

My inspiration came from this project! How fabulous is it? I love the deep colours, its simplicity, the watercolouring and the effect of the die cut and mounted onto several die cuts to give it height!

Here is my cased version. I have created a similar style card because I loved so much of Tracy's.
Starting with a square card I knew that I really wanted to use this new stamp set In This World pg 145. I could see in my head that these images would lend themselves to this type of card really nicely. I added the 'Beautiful' from Happy Happenings pg 72 of the catalogue.

How to give height to your word die:
If only you could cut dimensional foam to the shape of your die right? Well thats a great idea but until that day try cut your die out a number of times. I cut the HELLO out x5 in rich razzleberry and carefully with dots of the fine tip glue pen I laid them on top of each other. Adding my original HELLO on the very top.

Adding more Dimension
The chair image is devine and to make it stand out I stamped it out a few times. Once in shimmery white & popped it up on a dimensional - when cutting I did not cut out the 'back' chair legs so that it gave it more that 3D dimension. I stamped the chair again in razzleberry for the 'cushion' parts.

• Square cardbase in Rich Razzleberry cardstock 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"
• Very Vanilla Frame 5-1/4" x 5-1/4"
• Basic Black Frame 5" x 5"
• Shimmery White Panel 4-7/8" x 4-7/8"
