Lets Water Colour for April with Lets Craft Together

Welcome back to another Let's Craft Together Blog Hop! This months theme is Watercolouring. A technique I love but rarely do. So lets get stuck in with some water, ink and paper and instead of stamps the hero this time is a metal die!

I have created an EPIC rock card for my sons upcoming birthday. He's an enthusiastic guitarist so this card is perfect for him. I have created a colour combination using my new colour wheel that I made at OnStage.

Have you ever used DIES to watercolour with? There are endless uses once you start to look outside of the normal uses. Check out my YouTube video that shares how I used the die as a stencil and how I like to watercolour.
ROCK STAR  - What an awesome BUNDLE - love that we'll soon be seeing it in the new Annual Catalogue.

Check out this quick video on how to use dies as stencils for watercolouring

Here's the WATERCOLOUR challenge picture, thanks Julia for setting this challenge
Lets take a closer look at this card. I let the watercolours bleed into each other, by adding some more water and tilting the paper from side to side.  I really like the edgy card design, the way the guitars 'become one', how the colours compliment each other so well and the versatility of the products in particular the dies and stamps.
The inside was fun to create all that electric energy is pouring out!
To create the inside, I used the negative piece after cutting the deckled circle and marked out with a pencil that circle. I then used that outline to stamp out the lightening bolt around like a wreath.
Loving this colour combo - my sons favourite colour is red but I think maybe he'll now also love Azure Afternoon (turquoise).
Be sure to continue on the hop below!

Thanks so much for stopping by and hopefully I have inspired your creativity. I love reading your comments, be sure to leave me a quick hello below!

Beautiful Day - Butterfly Watercoloured with Brusho™ Crystal Colour

I recently ran a Brusho class and I'm so happy I did. My students had a ball learning how to use Brushos. It is definately a product that you get better at using as you practice. It easy to get carried away and add lots of crystals. I prefer a lighter, softer washed out look - this is hard to achieve with such a heavy hand as mine.

If you like my colour combination, please share it on your favourite Pinterest board!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed seeing my project please take a few moments to leave me a comment I'd love to hear what you think.

My inspiration came from this very striking card that Sandi has a YouTube video for here.
I love the bright colours and the black image looks awesome.
Here is my card using the new Carousel Birthday set - I love this set along with the coordinating papers and embellishments in the New Catalogue (pg 9)
For the most part I used Sandi's colouring tips - the ink pad to the silicone mat, sprayed it with water, but instead of using a bent window sheet, I used cling wrap I love the way the ink looks watercoloured and all without a paintbrush. Watercolouring with a brush is not my strong suit but this technique was quick and easy.
Try making this card!
  • Cardbase in Whisper White Thick cardstock
  • A4 cut in half at 10.5cm and scored at 14.9cm
  • Front:
  • Basic Black Frame 3-7/8" x 5-5/8"
  • Shimmery White Panel 3-3/4" x 5-1/2"
  • Smooching technique to add colour
Be inspired with this colour combination, feel free to share and pin it!

Crazy Crafters July Blog Hop - CASEing Tracy May

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog for July. This month we are excited to be CASE'ing Tracy May from the UK! Now even better we get to hop along with Tracy herself! Woo Hoo!
We hope you find great inspiration from the projects. The full blog lineup below will help you move along to see all the projects. This is a blog hop you will not want to miss out on!

My inspiration came from this project! How fabulous is it? I love the deep colours, its simplicity, the watercolouring and the effect of the die cut and mounted onto several die cuts to give it height!
http://bedlamandbutterflies.co.uk/2016/05/sneak-peek-fabulous-flora-stampin-gdp036/
Here is my cased version. I have created a similar style card because I loved so much of Tracy's.
Starting with a square card I knew that I really wanted to use this new stamp set In This World pg 145. I could see in my head that these images would lend themselves to this type of card really nicely. I added the 'Beautiful' from Happy Happenings pg 72 of the catalogue.
How to give height to your word die:
If only you could cut dimensional foam to the shape of your die right? Well thats a great idea but until that day try cut your die out a number of times. I cut the HELLO out x5 in rich razzleberry and carefully with dots of the fine tip glue pen I laid them on top of each other. Adding my original HELLO on the very top.
Adding more Dimension
The chair image is devine and to make it stand out I stamped it out a few times. Once in shimmery white & popped it up on a dimensional - when cutting I did not cut out the 'back' chair legs so that it gave it more that 3D dimension. I stamped the chair again in razzleberry for the 'cushion' parts.
Try making this card! Here are the measurements for you:
  • Square cardbase in Rich Razzleberry cardstock 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Very Vanilla Frame 5-1/4" x 5-1/4"
  • Basic Black Frame 5" x 5"
  • Shimmery White Panel 4-7/8" x 4-7/8"

Be inspired with this colour combination, feel free to share and pin it!

ng ideas and inspiration you don't want to miss. Please check the line up list to see who is up next!
